Unclaimed assets Description

The "Unclaimed Assets Management" project was launched exactly one (1) year ago, in February 2018, by Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, on instructions from the Ministry of the Economy, in order to enable the receipt, securing and return of said funds to the beneficiaries. The regulations relating to inactive bank accounts and abandoned life insurance contracts entrust the institution with the management of abandoned assets after a period of inactivity of 10 years.

Communication on the project

In order to fulfil its mission of general interest, Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations launched a vast communication campaign on national channels in December 2018. The objective was to inform the general public about the project, the procedures for return on request and the prerogatives of the CDC.

Indeed, CDC is thus registered as the custodian of the protected deposits of natural and legal persons and thus strengthens its status as a trusted third party by centralising dormant assets.

Perspective

If the first phase of the project consisted in centralizing the so-called unclaimed sums. In accordance with its prerogatives, CDC plans to secure the so-called dormant securities accounts held by the institutions concerned by the law.
